Purpose : Rib fractures are common injury accompanying with blunt trauma and could be life threatening to elderly patients. We sought to relation of nutrition status of patients with mild blunt chest trauma
Methods : Among patients who admitted to our department with blunt chest trauma between January 2016 and July 2017, we enrolled elderly patients with age of more than 60 years. Among 47 patients, we excluded 3 mortality case and 5 severe cases with ISS score more than 25.
Results : A total of 39 patients were included : 30 patients were male, average age was 70 years. Mean ISS was 21.7, the average of albumin level was 3.9g/dl. The level of albumin has negative correlation with ISS score(r=-.0.427, p=0.007) and hospital stay day( r=-0.607, p=0.000). On the other hand there was no relation between albumin level and age.
Conclusion : The level of albumin could be one of marker predicting severity of patients with mild blunt chest trauma.
